About Emily

Emily Slade has been blessed with many gifts. She is a striking guitarist and singer-songwriter with her own, unmistakable style. Following a break from recording, Emily is about to release a new Live EP, ‘Me & G’. The CD is loyal to that individual approach Emily has always had to writing and performance - but with new depth, colour and maturity.The Music…...The partnership between Emily’'s enchanting voice and intricate guitar playing are rarely found in one person, making Emily a captivating performer. She is an outstanding guitarist, with a distinctive technique. "“As a child all I wanted to do was play guitar. I was obsessive about it, which kept me out of trouble as a teenager! This probably made my early songwriting more observational, rather than about me. I wasn't exactly worldly wise!”"Emily is now widely hailed as an intelligent contemporary British songwriter. Her own songs approach modern day issues, relating to real people with staggering depth of insight and intelligent comment. "“I don'’t write protest songs as such, although they do '‘comment’'. In the X-Factor age, where so many seem intent on copying everybody else, it’ is gratifying to find an individual who sounds solely like herself.Background...…Emily took up the acoustic guitar at the age of nine, making her stage debut that same year. At 18, Emily studied English and Education at Cambridge University, England. During her final year at university Emily launched ‘Rustic Thorn Records’, her own label, to release a 5 track EP called ‘Small Talk’. After emerging with a First Class Honours degree, Emily released her debut album ‘Shire Boy’. She took to the road, promoting the album by travelling internationally, carving out a solid reputation amongst fellow musicians and support at grassroots level from the audiences at her concerts.Emily Slade is a woman quite clearly at ease with her audience. Her winning personality and presence have endeared her to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. The imminent release of ‘Me & G’ gives just a flavour of the beautifully crafted songs and performance we can expect from her forthcoming full length album, due to be released in 2012.
